6.0 quake, several others felt in eastern Caribbean - Jamaica Observer

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, (CMC) - Several earthquakes were reported in the Caribbean overnight into early Saturday morning with the strongest having a magnitude of 6.0 that was recorded northeast of Guadeloupe.
According to the University of the West Indies' Seismic Research Centre (UWI SRC), the 6.0 quake was also recorded near Antigua and Barbuda and Montserrat at a depth of 16 km.
The events have worried people in the Caribbean nations.
"Please note that our region is a seismically active one and we can feel events in a short period of time. This is why we always urge persons to plan, prepare and practice for any earthquake event," the UWI SRC said in a statement.
