The Fiji Public Service Association (FPSA) says a job evaluation exercise (JEE) was completed at the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) in December with a new salary band based on the finance and banking industry standard.

FPSA general secretary Judith Kotobalavu told union members at FRCS in a circular on February 5 that those who had grievances regarding their job descriptions submitted during the exercise would have their positions re-evaluated.

"Members are, therefore, urged to submit their JDs for re-evaluation," Ms Kotobalavu said.

"Staff who acquire a salary increase after the re-evaluation will have their salary aligned to the correct salary band."

Ms Kotobalavu said the new salary band post-evaluation would be provided to staff members before the end of February and would also be part of the FRCS-FPSA collective agreement.

"The salary for the finance and banking industry is the benchmark for FRCS staff salary during the job evaluation exercise as it is the highest paid industry globally.

"This has placed FRCS staff salaries on a decent salary position at market value."

Ms Kotobalavu said manager positions at FRCS would have their salaries aligned on the same level.

"Fixed allowances for border controllers are temporarily ceased due to the latest salary increase after the JEE.

"The matter is currently in discussion with the management and will be restored and compensated."
