KINGSTON, Jamaica - Wayne Pinnock of the University of Arkansas and Ackelia Smith of the University of Texas won their first indoor long jump championships at the South-Eastern Conference (SEC) and Big12 indoor championships respectively on Friday.

Pinnock, the World Championships silver medallist who was second last year to then teammate Carey McLeod, won his first indoor title with a jump of 8.28m at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Arkansas.

Pinnock, who was second last year to then teammate Carey McLeod, led from the second round after a foul in the first round.

His teammate Nia Robinson was second in the women's long jump with 6.44m and who also fouled on her opening attempt.

Smith, who won the NCAA outdoors title last year needed just two jumps to win the Big12 title at Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas with a mark of 6.74m, while her teammate Aaliyah Foster was third with 6.34m.

Shantae Foreman of Clemson University took second in the women's long jump at the ACC championships with a personal best 6.37m, just longer than her previous best 6.34m set in 2022.

Kavian Kerr of the University of Nebraska was seventh in the men's long jump with 7.30m, his only legal mark at the Big 10 championship

Samoya Neil of the University of South Dakota won the women's long jump title at the Summit League championships with a personal best of 6.13m, better than her previous best of 6.00m while competing for the University of Mary.

Shemar Chambers of North Carolina A&T was second in the men's 400m at the Coastal Athletics Association (CAA) indoors, running a season's best 46.92 seconds and was fourth in the 200m in 21.41 seconds, another season's best run.

Demario Prince meanwhile, set a Baylor University program record in the men's 60m hurdles after running 7.62 seconds in Friday's heats at the Big 12 championships.
