Mustapha: 100pc marketability achieved by Sandakan Polytech grads

SANDAKAN: Sandakan Polytechnic and Sandakan Community College students have attained 100 per cent marketability after graduation.
Deputy Higher Education Minister, Datuk Mustapha Sakmud said: "We are very proud of this achievement and shows that studies at the Polytechnic and Community College have a high impact on the community.

"The application of education at the Community College is also gaining traction when it exceeds the intended number of students at any given time.
"We also provide opportunities for vulnerable groups to learn and gain skills that can help them generate income," he said.

Sandakan Polytechnic Director Mohd Sani Said was there, as was the proprietor of Jacs Bloemist, Jacqueline Wong Shuk Yi, 31, a Sandakan Polytechnic alumni.

Jacqueline has been running her florist business for the past six years, providing flower arrangement and bouquet services, as well as gifts for various events and wedding decorations, with a steady revenue.
She graduated from the Tourism and Hospitality program at Sandakan Polytechnic.

According to Mustapha, Jacqueline is also a successful entrepreneurship alumni.
"This is also one of the Polytechnic's efforts in ensuring the marketability of its students apart from studies and getting jobs and doing business," he said.
He is extremely proud of Jacqueline and other graduates for successfully launching their businesses.
Earlier, Mustapha made an official visit to Sandakan Polytechnic, Batu 10 Sandakan Education Hub, and Community College in Bandar Labuk, Sandakan.
Mustapha said that students and lecturers at the two institutions should be encouraged to innovate and conduct research.
"Among them, Sandakan Polytechnic, we see that they have successfully produced pallets for chicken bran and also maize culture that can be used for the livestock sector," he said.
"In addition, the innovations in question, including animal husbandry and fisheries, can contribute to efforts to ensure the country's food security is at a good level," he added.
He also lauded the many triumphs of Sandakan Polytechnic and Community College students and instructors at the national and international levels, demonstrating the institutions' ability.
Sandakan Polytechnic also offers Agriculture and Agrotechnologies courses.
Meanwhile, Mustapha expressed gratitude to the State Government for approving the development of a higher education institution at the Sandakan Education Hub.
In terms of oil and gas studies and tourism in Sabah, he believes it is one of the most essential studies.
He said that when opening a higher education institution in the education hub under the State Government, numerous factors must be considered and looked into.
He said that his side has also met with Lim Kok Wing University, which has shown a desire to offer education in Sabah, but no additional information has been provided.
On the innovations developed by Sandakan Polytechnic students and lecturers, he hopes that someone would step forward to assist in commercializing them so that they can expand.
