NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 14 -- The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has apprehended a Narok Principal reported to have demanded a bribe before paying a supplier.

Erustus Nganga, the Principal of Keekonyokie Mixed Day and Secondary School in Narok County, demanded Sh50,000 to sign a Sh410,000 cheque for goods supplied to the institution.

He obtained Sh40,000 according to EACC.

Agents arrested the school head after the supplier notified the anti-graft agency of the bribery.

The detectives detained Nganga at Ntulele Police Station following his arrest on Wednesday pending arraignment on Thursday.

EACC called for public support in anti-graft campaigns urging members of the public to share information through a toll-free line 1551.

"Such individuals should always [be] exposed to the Commission for action in accordance with the law," EACC said on Thursday.

EACC said it was investigating similar cases involving heads of institutions across the country.
