PORTLAND, Jamaica - In a heartwarming celebration of a century of life, family, and community, Claire Josephine Norris-Darby marked her 100th birthday surrounded by loved ones at the Port Antonio Methodist Church hall in Portland on Sunday.

The occasion was a testament to a life well-lived, filled with love, dedication, and unwavering strength.

Born on March 16, 1924, Norris-Darby has been a cherished member of the Port Antonio community for a century.

As friends and family gathered to celebrate this momentous occasion, Norris Darby's son, Lascelles Grant, shared heartfelt words reflecting on his mother's impact.

"We had to be accountable to her when we went to school and Sunday school," he reminisced.

"She was hardworking and always in the bushes. Mommy, you have left us with a treasure trove of wisdom and life lessons," Grant added.

At the same time, her daughter Paulette Lawrence said "Mamma was an avid reader and she is recognised by the King and the Governor General on reaching this milestone"
