KINGSTON, Jamaica - All the favourites slated to compete in the highly anticipated Class 1 boys' 100m are through to the semi-final round at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys' and Girls' Athletics Championships.
Herbert Morrison's Deandre Daley, who finished second in the event in 2023 and is tapped to win this year, clocked 10.75 to win heat two ahead of Clarendon College's Tremaine Hamilton (10.85) and Kareem Riley of Vere Technical (10.93).
Hector Benjamin of Jamaica College (JC) recorded 10.81 to take heat two while Martino Williams of Camperdown High (10.97) finished second.
Heat three saw Kingston College's Yourie Lawerence Clarke run 10.73 seconds for the top spot, Munro College's Romario Hines produce a time of 10.76 for second and St Catherine High's Patrick McKenzie round out the top three with 10.90.
Class two champion Shaquane Gordon of Calabar High clocked 10.71 to top heat six, followed by Lennon Green of Excelsior High (10.80) and Cornwall College's Zachary Cox (10.83).
Steer Town Academy's Omarion Barrett produced a 10.64 clocking to win heat seven, Lacovia High's Rosean Smith finished second in 10.70, third went to Camperdown High's Jaheim Jones (10.79) while Demarc Stephenson of St George's College (10.89) and Herbert Morrison's Chance Segree (10.90) placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
Raheem Pinnock of St Jago High (10.68), JC's Dontae Watson (10.76) and Edwin Allen High's Joshua St John (10.79) are the qualifiers from heat five.
Excelsior High's Damor M|iller produced the fastest time of the day with a clocking of 10.60, finishing ahead of St Jago's Tajay Duffus (10.67) and Tay-Shawn Barnes of Steer Town Academy (10.83).
Heat four went to Khamani Gordon 10.77 of Calabar High and Edwin Allen's Romario Finnigan finished second with 10.98.
The Class 1 boys' 100m semi-finals are slated for Wednesday at 6:45pm.
