Christians begin Holy Week commemoration with Palm Sunday processions

NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 24 -- Christians across the globe marked the commencement of the Holy Week with Palm Sunday processions, signaling the final week of Lent, a 40-day period of prayer and reflection.
Palm Sunday commemorates the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem ahead of his betrayal and crucifixion according to Christian teachings.
The Holy Week ushers in Good Friday, also known as Holy Friday, when Christians hold processions to mark the betrayal, crucifixion, and death of Jesus, ahead of Easter Sunday celebrations marking the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.
In Nairobi, congregants convened in various city churches including the Holy Family Basilica and All Saints' Cathedral to mark Palm Sunday.
