SHAWANO COUNTY (WLUK) -- A member of the Shawano County Board of Supervisors is hanging up his hat after half a century of service.

At a board meeting Wednesday, State Rep. Peter Schmidt (R-Bonduel) honored Arlyn Tober for his 50 years of dedication to Shawano County. Tober, who is not seeking re-election, was presented with an Assembly Citation.

"Arlyn Tober has tirelessly dedicated his time and efforts to improving the lives of Shawano County residents through his unwavering commitment to public service," said Schmidt.

His leadership, integrity and passion have been instrumental in shaping the development and progress of Shawano County over the past five decades. His selfless devotion to the betterment of Shawano County has left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of all who have known him and had the privilege of working alongside him.

In his remarks, Tober reminisced on his long journey with the Board of Supervisors and thanked everyone who played a part in it.

"Words cannot tell you how much this means to me. It is truly an honor for me to receive this award. 50 years ago when I started, I never believed that I'd still be here at this time," Tober said. "I will definitely miss the county board, supervisors, department heads and employees. I will also miss the meetings throughout northeastern Wisconsin."
