PETALING JAYA: MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has pledged to continue working to strengthen Malaysia's ties with China.
In conjunction with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the countries, Dr Wee said he was honoured to receive a courtesy visit from Communist Party of China (CPC) International Liaison Department Minister Liu Jianchao in Kuala Lumpur.
"After my courtesy visit to Liu with other MCA leaders in Beijing in March last year, today again I had the pleasure of meeting him and other Chinese leaders in Kuala Lumpur.
"My appreciation goes to Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing and his wife for their invitation to the luncheon at their official residence this afternoon," he wrote in a Facebook post on Thursday (March 28).
He then gave his assurance that MCA would continue working with China to tighten the long-standing friendship between the nations.
"MCA will work together with the International Liaison Department to promote activities and programmes which will strengthen our bilateral ties and benefit the people of both countries," he said.
Dr Wee added that Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing and Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang were also present at the luncheon.
