Kuching native becomes new Ipoh OCPD

IPOH: Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad is now the Ipoh OCPD.

The 56-year-old Kuching native is taking over the post from outgoing ACP Yahaya Hassan, who is leaving on mandatory retirement.

ACP Abang Zainal Abidin said iscommitted and to ensure that the good work of ACP Yahaya is continued.

"I hope to have the support and cooperation from all department heads and personnel.

"It will be a new challenge and I will also hoped to have the cooperation from the media to alert us on any crime or other incidents in the district," he said when met after the duty handover ceremony between him and ACP Yahaya at the Perak police officer mess hall here on Thursday (April 4).

Prior to Ipoh, ACP Abang Zainal Abidin was the Padawan OCPD in Kuching, Sarawak for two years and seven months.

He had also formerly held the OCPD posts in Lawas and Limbang.

"I have also held various posts in different departments and have served in the police force for 34 years," he said.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, who witnessed the handover ceremony, said he hoped that ACP Abang Zainal Abidin could get settled in quickly to his new environment.

"I also hope he can ensure that the capital is safe and all key performance indexes are achieved," he added.
