DALY CITY, Calif. (KGO) -- An effort began on Tuesday to help free an entangled grey whale in the waters of Daly City's Thornton Beach.

In this video, you can see something attached to the whale's tail.

The Marine Mammal Center says this whale has a satellite tracking tag.

On Tuesday, biologists tried to pinpoint the satellite tag and the marine mammal but say they need calmer waters to locate them.

Grey whales are now migrating from Baja California to feeding grounds up near Alaska.
