Thomas Cup-bound Aaron-Wooi Yik storm into Asian meet semi-finals

PETALING JAYA: Men's doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooik Yik made short work of one of their biggest rivals - China's Liu Yuchen-Ou Xuanyi - to march into the semi-finals of the Asian Championships.

The world No. 5 shuttlers took down the Chinese pair 21-14, 21-15 at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Centre on Friday.

This was the eighth meeting between Aaron-Wooi Yik and the world No. 8 pair, and the win for the Malaysians made it all even between them with four wins each.

They will now either face compatriots Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani or Taiwan's Lee Yang-Wang Chi-lin in the semi-finals next.

Aaron-Wooi Yik will be out to reach their second final, after doing so in 2022.
