KLIA shooting: Suspect wanted to try and flee the country, says CID chief

PETALING JAYA: The man suspected of firing a gun in KL International Airport (KLIA) on Sunday (April 14) is believed to have wanted to try and escape to a neighbouring country, says Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain.
The Bukit Aman CID (Criminal Investigation Department) director said the suspect was nabbed in Kota Baru on Monday (April 15) while attempting to try and flee the country.
He added that the suspect would be brought to Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday (April 16) for further investigation by the Selangor police.
Earlier Tuesday, a Kota Baru Magistrate's Court issued a seven-day remand order for the suspect until April 22.

Magistrate Rais Imran Hamid issued the remand order to help in investigations nder Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971 and Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960.
The suspect was also under remand to help in investigations under Rule 25(1)(o) of the National Registration Rules (1990) for possessing another individual's identification documents, and Section 108(3)(f) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for using fake vehicle registration plates.
