DURBAN - African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to embark on day two of his election campaigning in KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday.

KwaZulu-Natal is a highly contested terrain for the upcoming polls. The Inkatha Freedom Party and Democratic Alliance are gunning to take control of the provincial government while newcomers like uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party are also providing stiff competition for the governing party.

Ramaphosa is expected to visit various communities in and around Durban, Kwaximba, to urge voters to give the party another chance.

The ANC performed poorly in the 2021 municipal elections, losing significant voter support, and it now has to work hard to convince voters to keep them in power here in the province.

Last year, Ramaphosa promised the ANC KZN leadership that he would campaign with them ahead of the 29 May polls.

On Friday, the ANC president visited Inanda, north of Durban to gather support.
