Motorcyclist killed Sunday night on R579

CO CORK, Ireland - A man in his 60s was killed on Sunday night when his motorbike crashed on the R579.
The single road traffic collision occurred around 6:45pm Sunday. Gardai and emergency services attended the scene. The collision, which involved a motorcycle, crash took place on the R579 at Glen South, Banteer, County Cork.
The morotcyclis's body was removed from the scene to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem is expected to take place take place in due course.
The R579 road (from Banteer to Nad) was closed from Sunday night and onto Monday morning. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators were seen carryingout an examination of the scene.
Garda are appealing to any person who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
Any road users with camera footage (including dashcam) who were travelling in the vicinity of Banteer and Nad, between 6.00pm and 7.30pm on Sunday night, are asked to make this available to Garda.
