Accused in Phala Phala farm burglary due back in court on Friday

JOHANNESBURG - The three people accused of being involved in the theft of money at President Cyril Ramaphosa's Phala Phala farm are due back in court on Friday.

Siblings Floriana and Ndilinasho Joseph have been granted bail but it has been refused for their co-accused, Imanuwela David.

In 2022, former prisons boss Arthur Fraser claimed there had been a cover-up of the break-in where more than $580,000 was stolen.

Ramaphosa was subsequently cleared of any wrongdoing by, among others, the Public Protector.

The trio faces charges of theft, housebreaking, and conspiracy to commit housebreaking with intent to steal.

They were all arrested in 2023.

The case last came before the Bela Bela Magistrates Court in February when it was postponed to 26 April for further investigation.

According to reports, this included collecting cell phone records and CCTV footage
