THE Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) recorded a 35% increase in exhibition uptake compared to the same period in the prior year due to increased interest in the fair.

Last week saw the hosting of the 64th edition of ZITF which ran from April 23 to 27 under the theme, Innovation: The Catalyst to Industrialisation and Trade.
In a statement yesterday, ZITF Company said the exhibition uptake for this year was impressive.
"The exhibition uptake was impressive, with a 35% increase in the number of exhibitors, totalling 766 (compared to 565 in 2023).
"The 766 exhibitors were 471 direct exhibitors and 295 indirect exhibitors (individual exhibitors who exhibit under the banner of a country pavilion, holding company or partner organisation," ZITF said.
It added: "208 of the total exhibitors were new exhibitors, with 98% of these being foreign exhibitors. The exhibition showcased a wide range of companies and organisations that focused on different aspects of innovation and growth."
ZITF also covered key areas such as disruptive innovation and its impact on various industries, utilising digitalisation for sustainable growth, promoting grassroots innovation and tech start-ups, implementing green technologies and eco-friendly business practices.
The trade fair also saw some creative initiatives around social responsibility and inclusive development being pursued, which included the exploration of opportunities and synergies with international trading partners.
The ZITF Company further stated that space uptake for this year was up with 47 822 square metres (sqm) occupied, compared to 46 253sqm in 2023, representing a 3,4% increase.
Resultantly, exhibition space was made available in areas previously designated for other uses.
According to the group's statement, the exhibition was a successful multi-sectoral and international trade show that showcased various key sectors of the Zimbabwean economy.
It featured a diverse range of exhibitors representing sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, mining, tourism, services and infrastructure.
The group recorded an increase of six more countries in this year's ZITF edition, compared to 2023, out of a total of 26 countries which were represented by 154 exhibitors.
The group recorded a total of 8 124 business registered visitors for this year's ZITF, compared to 7 934 business visitors in the prior year.
This year's innovators forum experienced increased level of participation, with a turnout of 130 attendees on the first day and 143 on the second day.
