Woman repays US$1,920 to complainant, has charges dropped - Jamaica Observer

KINGSTON, Jamaica -- A woman had charges against her dropped when she returned to the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday after she repaid US$1,920 that she had taken from a complainant to book flights to Panama and reserve a hotel for a family trip.

Denise Faulknor was charged with obtaining money by means of false pretense after she took the sum of money from the complainant to book flights and hotel rooms for her and her two children on a trip to Panama. Faulknor, however, did not abide by the agreement, the court learnt.

On Tuesday, Faulknor paid over the full sum of US$1,920 as ordered in a previous court proceeding.

She then entered a not guilty plea, and Presiding Judge Carlo Mason dropped the charges against Faulknor on the basis that the prosecution presented no evidence against her in the case as full restitution was made.
