COSATU's Losi calls on govt to boost efforts to clamp down on corruption

CAPE TOWN - President of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), Zingiswa Losi, has called on government to boost efforts to clamp down on corruption.

Losi said graft continued to be the biggest setback in improving the lives of citizens.

She was speaking at a May Day rally at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on Wednesday.

Losi said the seventh administration of the African National Congress (ANC) government must ensure that all members deployed in government were not associated with corrupt activity.

"Corruption is the most hindrance that we have seen in what we seek to achieve, where municipal workers are not getting their salaries."

The COSATU president called on law enforcement agencies to hold all corruption-accused individuals accountable, regardless of race and influence.
