On the sidelines of OIC Summit, Foreign Minister meets his Gambian counterpart

Port Sudan, May 4 (SUNA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Awad Ali, met on Friday with Mr. Mamadou Tangara, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad of the Republic of The Gambia. This was on the sidelines of the fifteenth session of the Islamic Summit Conference of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in the Gambian capital, Banjul.

The Minister congratulated his Gambian counterpart on their assumption of the presidency of the OIC Islamic Summit, wishing them success in promoting joint Islamic action, briefing him on the latest developments of the situation in Sudan. He urged Gambia to provide the necessary support to Sudan in international and regional forums through their presidency of the OIC Islamic Summit and their membership in Both the United Nations and the African Union.

The Gambian minister stressed that his government would play a positive role to ensure security, peace and stability in Sudan.
