PETALING JAYA: The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) said a Cessna 172N Skyhawk aircraft with two persons had crashed near Felda Gunung Besut, Sungkai, Perak on Saturday.

It said the aircraft with registration number 9M-ADA, operated by Layang-Layang Flying Academy, departed from Sultan Azlan Shah Airport, Ipoh at 7.54am.

"The Kuala Lumpur Air Traffic Control Centre (KLATCC) received its last transmission over Slim River at 9.35am," said CAAM in a statement on Saturday (May 4).

"Overdue action was taken by the duty controller when the aircraft failed to make a position report over Bidor.
