Limpopo has done it again. A resident from the province is smiling to the bank after winning the R16 million Lotto jackpot recently.
The 4 May Lotto jackpot draw undoubtedly saw one person winning - a shop assistant at a local Limpopo fruit and vegetable retail store.
The shop assistant matched all six numbers correctly. According to National Lottery Ithumba, the winning ticket was purchased using the Capitec banking application. The winner opted for an R10 quick-pick.
Like those before her, the R16 million Lotto jackpot winner has it that she will keep her private life under wraps and remain grounded in her values.
She said she intends to build a big house for her family. "All I have ever wanted to do was build a huge, beautiful house for my family. Now, I can finally do that. That is the only big thing I intend to do with this win."
Surprisingly, she will keep her job and live her normal life despite being a millionaire overnight.
"I will continue to work at the retail store, and I will continue to live my life as I have been. This money will not change the person that I am. Only my family and I will know just how better our lives have become, thanks to the National Lottery," she added.
However, Ithuba CEO Charmaine Mabuza has made it known that she is pleased to see dreams coming true through one of the biggest Lottery jackpots in Africa.
She congratulated the R16 million Lotto jackpot winner: "It is pleasing to see dreams coming true through the National Lottery jackpots. We convey our best wishes to the winner and her family,"
However, a few weeks ago, a Limpopo man won the R13 million Powerball jackpot. According to the National Lottery, the winner from Limpopo visited the Ithuba Sandton office to claim his millions.
The security manager bought his R60 wager ticket from Shoprite Checkers in Limpopo. The R13 million jackpot winner made it known that he would share some of his winnings with his siblings. He went to reveal that he would surprise his uncle with a new car.
"I intend to share a portion of the money with my siblings so they can savour their big brother's windfall. More significantly, I yearn to surprise my uncle with a beautiful car," he said.
