MANILA, Philippines - THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Tuesday guaranteed that there will be no more backlogs in the distribution of plastic driver's license cards and motor vehicle plates starting July this year.

LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II said transport officials assured President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. during a sectoral meeting that there were "sufficient driver's license cards to support the demand for until the end of the year."

Mendoza noted that 9.7 million plastic cards have been bid out by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the LTO and that completion of the delivery was expected in October.

"So, there is no reason why we will not have enough cards for the entire year. Because of this, by July 1 of this year, there shouldn't be any backlog. And we can see that we are on track," he said, as he urged those with paper licenses to claim their plastic cards.
