Books, beats, and theatre: Franschhoek Festival brings joy and learning to local schools | Life

Ahead of the Franschhoek Literary Festival (FLF), schools in the town's surrounding areas have been treated to performances, activities, and free books as part of an outreach initiative called Franschhoek Reading.

The FLF takes place from 17 to 19 May, but festival initiatives aimed at local schools started on 13 May. On Wednesday, Dalubuhle Primary School was treated to educational theatre and musical activities.

The school, which is considered underprivileged, is built on a mountain slope in Groendal, just outside Franschhoek. Although the humble neighbourhood is removed from the prestige of the wine town, it still shares the natural beauty.
