Zainal Rahim Seman appointed National Wages Consultative Council chairman

PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Zainal Rahim Seman has been appointed chairman of the National Wages Consultative Council.
The Human Resources Ministry said Zainal's tenure would be from May 1, 2024 to Sept 30, 2026.
"Human Resources Minister Steven Sim presented him the letter of appointment at the ministry's office on Saturday (May 18)," said the ministry in a statement on Saturday.
The ministry added that Zainal's experience, knowledge, and expertise in the labour market ecosystem, especially in affordable wages policy, would be valuable to the council.
It said the council functions by discussing wage issues through active engagement of government representatives, workers, and employers.
It added that, currently, the council's technical committee has completed its review of the minimum wage order 2022.
"The review will be discussed and finalised in the next council meeting.
"Zainal's appointment will further strengthen the council in executing its functions effectively," said the ministry.
Zainal was formerly the Public Service Commission chairman and earlier its director-general. He also served as the Human Resources secretary-general.
