WELLINGTON, Fla. (CBS12) -- Video shows the moment firefighters tackled a house fire in Wellington on Wednesday.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBCFR) said the fire broke out in the attic of a home on Barberry Circle, off Wellington Trace. Luckily, the residents inside were able to make it out safely, but when firefighters arrived plumes of smoke were pouring out of the roof.

Crews said they stopped the fire in the attic, keeping it from spreading to nearby homes. In order to accomplish this, firefighters used the ventilation tactic, which required roof operations to allow the superheated gases and smoke to escape the attic, PBCFR said.
The tactic cools down the fire, allowing the smoke from inside the house to escape, allowing the water to do its work without the flames sparking back up again, fire rescue said.
Once the blaze was extinguished, a PBCFR investigator will determine what started the fire.
