DURBAN - Traffic has been brought to a standstill on the N3 highway in Durban by protesting taxi operators.
Eyewitness News understands this could be linked to Thursday's taxi blockade in Port Shepstone, on the South Coast over the impounding of taxis by police.
The eThekwini Metro Police Department has deployed officers to the N3 to monitor the situation.
Spokesperson, Boysie Zungu: "Currently the N3 is blocked by taxis, both bounds are affected and at this stage, we don't know what the grievances are but all services are on the scene trying to assist. Metro police and SAPS are on the scene."
Motorists have in the meantime been advised to use alternative routes.
"We are advising motorists to avoid the N3 to avoid delays."
