JOHANNESBURG - Political parties are gearing up to make their final submissions to voters as they wrap up their campaigns ahead of next week's elections.

The African National Congress (ANC), Democratic Alliance (DA), Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and ActionSA are some of the parties holding their final election rallies this weekend.

Some political analysts have told Eyewitness News that while most organisations led successful campaigns, they continued to make unscrupulous promises to voters.

The campaign season ahead of next week's elections has seen political parties making use of all their resources to garner support from registered voters.

Some organisations looked to social media to grow their footprint, some resorted to traditional door-to-door campaigns, while most spent millions of rands on election posters and billboards.

But political analyst, Sanusha Naidu, said that parties were somewhat disingenuous to voters on the campaign trail.

"When was the last time you even saw these people taking a stroll in communities? The way political parties define their campaign is sometimes very off-putting because they make so many promises."

Another political commentator, Dirk Kotze, said it's unfortunate that voters were on the receiving end of the misleading promises.
