Graham heads to Manama to participate in the Arab Information Ministers' Conference

Port Sudan, May 25 (SUNA) - Minister of Culture and Information, Dr. Graham Abdul-Gadir, left for the Bahraini capital, Manama, on Saturday, to participate in the 54th Session of the Conference of the Arab Information Ministers' Council, which will be held during the period 27-30 of the current month of May.
The Minister is to address the conference activities and hold a number of meetings with Arab information ministers. On May 29, 2024, the Kingdom of Bahrain will host, in cooperation with the Media and Communication Sector of the League of Arab States and the Ministry of Information, the 54th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, which is to be prepared for by the meetings of the 101st session of the Permanent Committee for Arab Media and the 19th session of the Executive Office, respectively, on the 27th and 28th of this month.
The meeting will be held in the presence of information ministers in Arab countries, and the General Secretariat of the Arab League will participate with a delegation headed by Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Media and Communication Sector, in addition to the presence of heads of media organizations and unions that have observer status with the Council of Arab Information Ministers.
In this context, the Arab League's Assistant Secretary-General stated that the Permanent Committee for Arab Media will study the draft agenda, based on the listed items and the constructive contributions of member states and concerned partners, to submit its recommendations to the Executive Office in preparation for their adoption by the Council, indicating that this session will be characterized by reviewing the results of following up on the implementation of decisions.
The 53rd session of the Council in Rabat, and the recommendations of the 18th session of the Executive Office in Tripoli, in light of the results of the preparatory meetings of the teams and committees emanating from the Permanent Committee.
The ambassador announced that at the top of the draft agenda is continuing media support for the Palestinian cause, and following up on the plan for Arab media action abroad, including adopting the Articles of Association of the observatory and the integrated platform, the Arab Institute for Peace Journalism, and the recommendations of the Arab Committee for Electronic Media.
The Permanent Committee will also review the best ways to implement the interim plan for the joint Arab media strategy to combat terrorism, in light of the adoption of this strategy by the 33rd Ordinary Arab Summit in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the adoption of the recommendations of the first forum for influencers and content makers in the field of sustainable development, in addition to taking steps aimed at completing Negotiation file with international media companies, continuing efforts to spread environmental media culture, enhancing the role of Arab women in the media, and adopting the Arab Media Code of Honor after enriching it with new provisions in line with the General Secretariat's initiative and the proposals of member states regarding integrating the electoral dimension in following up on electoral entitlements at the media level.
