ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has been requested to take up at the earliest the pending complaints of misconduct filed against the judges for enhancing and further strengthening the public confidence in the judiciary.
In a letter addressed to Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, who is also the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), Advocate Mian Dawood Monday requested that all those complaints filed against the judges which were pending with the Council be fixed in a month and disposed of by conducting hearings on daily basis so that the public confidence in the judiciary may further strengthen.
The lawyer recalled that Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa on January 21, 2024 while addressing a function had disclosed that some 100 complaints filed against the judges were pending with the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) for which he had sought the opinion of other members of the Council for disposal of these complaints in accordance with the law.
"The legal fraternity and public in view of your bravery believes that the process of accountability of judges could only be possible accomplished only in yours tenure as a chief justice of Pakistan", the lawyer wrote adding that the past of ex-chief justices was quite evident who had been protecting the corrupt judges and had not proceeded on the complaints filed against them.
