SANDAKAN: The garbage problem in Batu Sapi, especially in Pasir Putih, is not only a perennial woe but also an eyesore.

Locals like visiting Pasir Putih due to its vicinity to the beach.

Sandakan Warisan Deputy Chief, Alex Wong, urged the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture cum Batu Sapi MP, Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, to explain what happened to the RM200,000 allocated by Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing to dispose of rubbish in the Batu Sapi area.

"The garbage problem in Pasir Putih has so far not been fully resolved.

"What caught my attention is that after receiving the allocation, Sandakan MP had taken action to deal with the ongoing problem of marine litter in the Sim-Sim area.

"But Khairul has yet to take action," he said.

Alex also queried Khairul on his non-action on promoting Sandakan tourism since becoming Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

"The Batu Sapi MP also did not take advantage of the attractions and advantages in his area, causing the tourism development to stagnate," he said.
