Nairobi (HOL) -- The leader of the SSC-Khatumo administration, Abdiqadir Ahmed Ali Firdhiye, has urged Somalia's federal government to grant full recognition to their administration and move it from its temporary status.
Firdhiye emphasized the critical role of SSC-Khatumo in maintaining Somalia's unity and countering Somaliland's efforts to divide the nation. He stressed the need for the federal government to protect the SSC-Khatumo administration to ensure national unity, noting that they are constantly defending against forces attempting to undermine Somalia's cohesion.
"We have engaged in dialogue with the federal government, and a statement has been issued. We agreed that we must fulfill our responsibilities, and the federal government must adhere to its constitutional obligations," Firdhiye said. Somalia's federal government acknowledged the SSC-Khatumo administration in October 2023 and stated that it intends to integrate it into its federal system.
Firdhiye attended his first National Consultative Council summit in Mogadishu earlier this month.
