MANILA - President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has ordered the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and the Department of Agriculture (DA) to implement 24/7 deployment of teams to ensure uninterrupted shipment process nationwide.
Speaking during the 4th meeting with the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) - Infrastructure Sector Group on Wednesday, Marcos emphasized the importance of round-the-clock shipment process to accommodate the arrival of more ships into the country.
"In this business, there's no afterhours. It can - it's ready 24/7. So, let's not put an extra team, let's just keep it running. Whatever you have there in the day, let the same number of people that you have all 24 hours," Marcos said as quoted in a Presidential Communications Office (PCO) news release.
"So, three eight-hour shifts," he added.
Marcos made the remarks following the recommendation of the PSAC to let the BOC and the DA produce a shifting schedule, ensuring 24/7 operations across government services relating to logistics and supply chains.
The PSAC said this move would ensure continuous inspection, clearance and payment process, significantly reducing costs and time, particularly on the x-ray scanning operations of the BOC and DA's office tasked to inspect reefer vans.
Present during the meeting in Malacañang were PSAC Strategic Convenor Sabin Aboitiz, President and CEO of the Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc.; along with PSAC members Enrique Razon, Manuel Pangilinan, Eric Ramon Recto, Joanne de Asis, Ramoncito Fernandez, Rogelio Singson, Christian Gonzalez and Daniel Aboitiz.
Composed of the country's renowned tycoons and business leaders, PSAC regularly convenes and recommends to the President various policies and programs under six sectors - infrastructure, agriculture, digital infrastructure, healthcare, jobs and tourism.
