CAPE TOWN - Gauteng can expect the low temperatures to persist this week with winter officially upon us.
Pretoria starts at a low of 5°C and a maximum of 17°C on Monday.
A low of 4°C and a maximum of 16°C is expected for Johannesburg for the rest of the day.
Vereening starts at -1°C, moving up to a maximum of 16°C.
Meanwhile in the Western Cape, fine conditions are expected to most parts of the province on Monday.
Cape Town is starting warm with a minimum of 14°C and the maximum of 26°C.
South African Weather Service forecaster, Dipuo Tawana provided insight into weather for the rest of the week.
"We expect the same conditions to prevail on Tuesday - fine conditions expected for Gauteng, however we are expecting slight improvement in our temperatures. Pretoria will still be on the cool side, but it will still be cold over the southern part of the province. Over to Cape Town, we still expecting fine conditions, becoming partly cloudy."
Tawana however said cold conditions were also expected in the Mother City later in the week.
"[In] Cape Town, we are expecting partly cloudy conditions with temperatures between 13°C and 18°C on Wednesday. We are expecting a cold front to make a landfall overnight in the evening over that province. It brings about 30% probabilities of late evening showers and rain, and Thursday morning we are going to wake up to cloudy conditions with light rain in the morning."
