Toronto: In a shocking incident, an Indian-origin from Punjab's Ludhiana district was allegedly shot dead in Canada's Surrey on Friday. The victim has been identified as Yuvraj Goyal and was living in Canada since 2019. He was living in the country on a student visa. The incident reportedly took place on June 7.

Sharing details, Royal Canadian Police said that the 28-year-old was working as a sales executive. His father Rajesh Goyal, is in firewood business, while his mother, Shakun Goyal, is a housewife. While the victim did not have any criminal record the motive behind the incident remains unclear. The four accused have been identified and they have been charged with first degree murder (20) The suspects have been charged with first degree murder.

Reacting to the incident, Shakun said that the entire family is in a state of shock after the incident and that her son had no enemies. Talking about her last phone call with Yuvraj, the mother said she spoke to her son shortly before the incident. At the time, the victim was driving his car and was returning home from the gym.

Further expressing her sorrow at the killing of her son, Shakun further said while she do not expect any justice, the Candian government must understand that parents send their children to the country with lots of dreams and not to take their lifeless bodies back home.

After completing his graduation degree with a B Com (Honours) from the Delhi University, the victim moved to Canada to complete his master's degree in finance. He had also worked in India for nearly two years before going to Canada. He was working Canada-based Basant Motors at the time of his death.
