GLASGOW, Ky. - A community rallies together around a boy who was shot in May.
Mathew Arms was taken to the University of Louisville after a shooting at McKenna Street.
Now, the community is rallying together around two words: Mathew Strong.
On Tuesday at Gorin Park, the community of his friends and family came together to share their support for Mathew during this tough time.
We were able to speak to a friend of Mathew's, who is part of the biker community.
He had a simple message for those that are close to him.
"The younger kids are the ones who are suffering, because in the long term, the trauma, the PTSD, the things that's going to happen with this, we have to stop it. We want to eliminate the curse. So the biggest thing is, I know that you guys are hurt, but keep it in your mind, 'What would he want?," Justin Woods says.
The support for Mathew doesn't just end here. The biker community in Glasgow is set to hold another rally in support of the family.
"We will be hosting the event June 22nd in his name. It'll be at the Avenue Church of Christ in Glasgow, Kentucky. It will be 8:30 to around 12. Kick stands up about 1-1:30. It's going to be a short cruise afterwards. Anybody's welcome, I don't care what group, what crew you ride with or where you're from. Please come show up for my nephew," Mathew's uncle Braxton Thomas, who's also part of the community, says.
He also says Mathew is a huge fan of old cars, so that's why he decided to host a cruise in honor of his nephew.
Mathew is still recovering at the University of Louisville, but was on FaceTime during the night. His mom, who is with him, said his heart rate actually went up when his family shouted 'We love you buddy' to him.
