Filipino-Chinese Friendship Day marked in Baguio

BAGUIO CITY - Consul and Head of Post Ren Faquiang, Consulate of China in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Mayor Benjamin Magalong here, city officials, and officials and members of the Baguio Filipino-Chinese Community celebrated the 23rd Filipino-Chinese Friendship Day at the Filipino-Chinese Friendship Park at the Botanical Garden, this city, on June 15.

The celebration was highlighted by the release of doves as a sign of friendship between the Philippines and China.

A gift-giving activity was held for for visually impaired individuals, children with disabilities, and other persons with disabilities.

"This relationship of more than two decades is the result of a good relationship, not only as friends, but as a family, blood relatives, and continuous cooperation towards the economy of the two countries. This relationship will pass from generation to generation the friendship and I am very grateful for the excellent relationship between the city of Baguio and the Filipino-Chinese community here," Faquiang said.

Magalong thanked the Filipino-Chinese community for their assistance and contributions to this city.

"Apart from that, they are also our partners in tourism, such as the Chinoy mural they created which serves as an attraction for our visitors and this Fil-Chinese Friendship Park, which they personally develop and beautify, which is a big reduction in our maintenance in the Botanical Garden and during the pandemic, they also took the lead in responding to the needs of our city. Thank you very much," said Magalong
