Factory worker shot dead in Karachi

KARACHI: A young factory worker was shot dead in a suspected targeted attack in New Karachi Industrial Area late on Saturday night, police said.
They said that Mohammed Wali, 29, was on his way to the factory on his motorcycle when armed assailants, also riding a two-wheeler, fired at him near the Godhra bus stop. He suffered a single bullet wound in the head and was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he died during treatment.
Central SSP Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqi hinted that the murder might be motivated by some personal enmity.
Meanwhile, two brothers were shot at and wounded in North Nazimabad on Sunday.
Police said Sher Khan, 28, and Jamshed Khan, 26, were wounded in a clash between neighbours in Block-B near Noor-i-Bilal Masjid.
The SSP said that the condition of wounded brothers was out of danger.
Over 12,000 cops to ensure security on Eid
Around 12,781 police personnel have been assigned the task to ensure security during Eidul Azha prayers throughout the city.
A police spokesman said that 5,600 officers and personnel have been deployed in the East Zone, 3,656 in the South Zone, and 3,525 in the West Zone.
Additionally, around 2,170 officers and personnel will oversee security at collection points for sacrificial animals' hides.
Security measures have been heightened at all major shopping centres, markets and other crowded locations. The traffic police have also been instructed to maintain smooth traffic flow.
