The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) are working within the priority of the Government when it comes to any talk of a pay rise for soldiers, says commander Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai.

Maj-Gen Kalouniwai said they understood their priority.

"We understand that the Government has their priority, and we are working within that," he said.

He made this comment after he was asked whether they were considering having a pay increase in the new financial year.

"If we have to go with a pay increase, then we will have to make a submission."

However, he said there were separate procedure for RFMF to ask for a pay increase from Government.

"It's a separate procedure all together."

While he did not reveal the procedures they take to ask for a pay increase, he said it did not come with the budget allocation.

The budget for the 2024 to 2025 financial year will be announced on June 28.
