LAHAD DATU: An 18-year-old motorcyclist was killed when his Yamaha LC135 crashed into a van at Km7 long Jalan Lahad Datu-Tawau, on Monday.

District Police Chief ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said Tuesday an investigation found the youth coming from Tawau crashed into the rear of the van at 1.50pm.

"The motorcyclist later fell off on the right side of the road and was dragged towards the road divider with his motorcycle.

He was killed on the spot which was confirmed by a medical officer from Lahad Datu Hospital, he said.

He said the victim's body was taken to the hospital where his and the van driver's blood samples were taken for alcohol and drug tests.

Police urged those who saw the incident to contact Traffic Investigation Officer, Isnp Humaidi Harun at 089-881255 or come to the nearest police station to assist in investigation.

"The case is still being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.
