NEW DELHI: Australia captain Mitchell Marsh has confirmed his availability to bowl during their Super 8 match against Bangladesh at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

Marsh, who had been sidelined from bowling due to a hamstring injury sustained while playing for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League 2024, will be ready to contribute if necessary. With Australia's strong line-up, Marsh does not see a pressing need to bowl but emphasized the importance of having multiple options in T20 cricket.

"I'll be available to bowl, yeah. With the line-up that we've got, I don't necessarily see a need for me to bowl, but I think it's really important in this format to have options, and we are blessed with plenty of those," Marsh was quoted as saying by ANI during the pre-match press conference.

Marcus Stoinis has taken on the bowling responsibilities in Marsh's absence, delivering match-winning performances throughout the group stages. With Marsh's return, Australia now has a broader array of bowling options, potentially altering their strategy depending on the team's composition.

"Yeah, actually physically feel good. It's always nice to have a bit of a break from bowling, and I often joke about that, but yeah - Stoin and I often talk about it as all-rounders, we love being in the game. And as I said before, it's really important in this format with some of the teams that are coming up against us to have as many options as we possibly can," Marsh elaborated.

Marsh has successfully led Australia in the ongoing tournament, with the team remaining unbeaten under his captaincy. Reflecting on his leadership role, Marsh expressed his enjoyment and gratitude for the support system within the team.

"Oh, look I've thoroughly enjoyed it. As I've said multiple times, I feel very lucky with the group that we've got, the amount of experience we've got within our team and also our staff. We've got an incredible group of staff that help us prepare as best we can and that certainly makes my job a lot easier," he stated.

Australia head coach Andrew McDonald had initially hinted at Marsh's return to bowling, and the captain's confirmation has bolstered the team's morale ahead of their crucial clash against Bangladesh. With Marsh's fitness allowing him to contribute with the ball if needed, Australia is poised to deploy a versatile and potent bowling attack, tailored to their opponents and match conditions.
