FCCC Warns Koro Shop Owners

The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) is considering taking legal action against several shop owners on the island of Koro.

This was announced by FCCC representative Meli Goneqalo during the Lomaiviti Provincial Council meeting. This was after a suggestion for a FCCC agent to be stationed on Koro, citing instances where prices surge once FCCC representatives return to Suva.

The stationing of an agent there is to prevent village shop owners from exploiting the situation.

"We found that some shops were not adhering to price regulations. As a result, certain shop owners will be taken to court," Mr Goneqalo said.

He urged the province to submit its input for the upcoming review.

"The freight rates will soon be reviewed. I encourage the province to submit its suggestions."
