Funeral services and Mass for Maureen T. Lemek, 89, of Davenport, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2024 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport immediately following Mass. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass in the churches gathering space. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Maureen's name may be made to the Vera French Mental Health Center. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Maureen died peacefully Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Ridgecrest Village, Davenport. Maureen Therese Bateman was born on June 24, 1934 in Sioux City, Iowa a daughter of Francis Donald and Kathryn Constantine (Miller) Bateman. She graduated from Sioux City Heelan in 1956 where she was elected homecoming queen by her classmates and later from Mercy College in Detroit with degrees in Theater and English.

Maureen was united in marriage to Richard J. Lemek on June 9, 1956 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Sioux City, Iowa. They recently celebrated 68 years of marriage together. Following graduation, Maureen "Reenie" taught in Iowa City before moving to Davenport. While raising eight children, she worked as a substitute teacher, at John Deere, and as an original teleworker medical transcriptionist. In retirement she was an active member of Davenport Parks and Recreation. As a member of Playcrafters Barn Theatre and Toastmasters she enjoyed speaking and performing at our local theaters. She wrote a play called Tee'd Off, to fundraise for the Knights of Columbus. Her other pleasures included writing and story telling, playing bridge, singing, solving crossword puzzles, and reading.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Richard, Davenport; children and their spouses: Stevan Lemek, East Moline, Theresa Lemek, Davenport, Christine (Paul) Clements, Cincinnati, David (Maura Quinn) Lemek, Arlington, Virginia, Brian (Elizabeth) Lemek, Chevy Chase, Maryland, Donald Lemek, Arvada, Colorado, Annette (Beth Simpson) Lemek, Portland, Maine, and Tony (Carla Garcia-Revis) Lemek, Bettendorf; fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Siblings: Mike Bateman, East Moline, and Denny (Cheryl) Bateman, Clearwater, Florida.

She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Jessica (Donald) Lemek, her parents, and siblings: Eugene Bateman, Lynn Delve, Constance Orr, and Orville Meyers. May they rest in peace.
